'Robbie Gordon of the low lands' creates a spectacle
Becx Competition enjoys RTL GP Pre-Proloog
During the first RTL GP Pre-Proloog for Becx Competition, Michiel Becx and Edwin Kuijpers manage to take third place. For the Dutch public it is also the first introduction to the MitJet Off Road and the Expandable Service truck, a real eyecatcher on the packed paddock.
“We really enjoyed this here at the Eurocircuit, “says Becx. “The Netherlands got to know our team, it was very nice to see that it was so busy all day around the buggy and the truck. After the first heat we already got the nickname from RTL: ‘Robbie Gordon from the low lands’. They compared our choice for the buggy with the choice of Gordon to start several times with special buggies in Dakar. I think we paid that name last Sunday by taking care of a show. Hopefully that works in Dakar too!”
In addition to the job, there was a lot of talk about the guts and high-tech that Becx Competition stands for: “Many people showed interest in the Expandable, but also in the buggy. Why do you choose this? How do you enter Dakar? I had these kinds of questions the whole day. Super that the Dutch are already so sympathetic and Dakar has yet to start! ”
The toughest rally in the world starts on 6 January in Lima, the capital of Peru, where the finish line will also be held on 17 January. Dakar 2019 consists of more than 3,000 kilometers on speed during 10 trials with no less than 70% sand.
